NEWS: JAMAICA'S NEW MONEYMAKER

blogs-2.jpg

As we have all paid witness to the rise and fall of the Jamaican Blogosphere, could blogging be Jamaica's new moneymanker?

The just around 6 year old blogging Industry in Jamaica has been everything less than an industry. With minimal profitability, acceptance and consumption blogging in Jamaica has merely long been a substitute avenue for young milenials to 'push' their careers and personal agendas. Take Kingston Belle for example. Rashade St Patrick the writer and front man of www.kingstonbelle.com started te blog in 2011 as a way to "discover myself". With numerous invites to exclusive style events and exclusive interviews KB fast became a recognised blogging brand in the sphere offerring people a glmaourous escape into the lives of Jamaica's most fabulous. Sounds great doesn't it? Well, this all took place all while St Patrick made NADA!

Fast froward into 2013 and the young writer and business savvy 20 year old began to join forces with emergent brands charging them little to nothing for a much need 'push'.

It is innovative thinking like that that would have sparked the interest of forwad thinking business owners with spending power and an advertising budget to begin to see blogs as viable avenues of marketing and advertising, and they did. But no sooner had blogging became profitable that it became obsolete. Bloggers became lazy and started to operate at a "when I have time" basis. Very soon advertisers shifted their strategies to include Jamaican bloggers as distinguished guests at events, fetting and feeding them for posts and pomotions with zero salary.

However, KB Collective aims to reignite the appetite for bloggin from all angles. Advertisers now has more options to choose from, varied through demographics, content type and popularity (which dictates pricing or affordability). Emerging writers and story tellers now has a singular place to go to submit their work for consideration of having it published and quite possibly getting hired as ghost writers of heads of blogging brands themselves. We're not claiming to come 'save the day' per say but we sure will try.

LET US KNOW IN THE COMMENTS BELOW, DO OU THINK BLOGGIN IS OR CAN BECOME JAMAICA'S NEW MONEYMAKER TREND?
