PILLOWMAN BY NILE SAULTER
Pillowam, a story of resilience, integrity and tenacity follows a father of two girls who lives in an a-typical housing situation in the hills of August Town. It depicts an early riser, a sun warrior and a true Jamaican hustler.
The short film follows a lowly Barbican Pillowman (Leonard Smith) who has been selling comfort for over 3 decades to thousands of people. It features model and artist Patasha Mclean and Digicel’s golden boy; Jeff Crossley - who, together, plays out an eerie boy-girl love story under Leonard’s creole tongue.
Congratulations to Nile Sualter for amazingly capturing Leonard “Pillowman’ Smith as he makes his way between August Town and Barbican selling handmade sponge pillows. May we never think of streetworkers the same again. May we forever be inspired by their sacrifice and strength. May we think upon our own lives and be appreciative and find peace.
