KACI ON THE RISE
LITTLE GIRL PRINCESS DREAMS ARE STILL COMING TRUE, JUST ASK KACI.
The indie model turn beauty queen is Miss Universe Jamaica 2014 and she is on the rise. Rashade St Patrick takes us up the ladder with Kaci Fennell.

When Kaci Fennell received her rapturous welcome into Jamaican Fashion 2 years ago, she brought the phrase “Instafamous” into the lexicon, heralded a sea of covers, and paved the way for a bunch of new age it-girls. Whether or not she or anyone else wants to admit it, there’s a pack on the Rock and Kaci is the leader.
The St Andrews High graduate worked her way up the ranks like every other dreamer; from promo girl, to designer model, to runway, then covers. Now, she is quite literally royalty.
I’ve heard it all, everything from her crooked teeth to the notion on which her model career stood only on the balance of her stunning bone structure. And while I will agree to the talk that "She’s a 'Pretty girl' but is way more photogenic than most, -well- 'Pretty girls'.", the 22 year old Miss Universe Jamaica is way more than her bones. I have had the pleasure of being around from foundation days when Fennell was but a novice model hungry for a breakthrough just as bad as the next girl.

Now she's the physical representation of the KB dream; to change the game. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we've had scores of weave wearers and blondes, heck even a dread locked queen, but Kaci Fennel is the first ever pageant winner (Miss Jamaica World/Universe) with short beautful hair. Hair of which she said post title is her trademark and will remain that length to and beyond Miss Universe. And alas, I will be the first to say that I was wrong. The queen speaks truth; the pixie is here to stay and will infact help her to stand out and, well, WIN.
I’ve met them all, all the ‘greats’ in Sara Lawrence/The Face, Terrie Karelle/The Personality and Yendi/The Star. In recent times Kaci is the single most rounded beauty queen we’ve seen since Yendi Phillipps MUJ stand, who -in case you live under a rock- is Miss Universe runner-up 2010. It goes without saying that though she never won an international crown Yendi is the go-to name for Jamaican pageantry, she is THE SOCIAL QUEEN. But what does she have that Kaci doesn’t?

NOHTING, that’s what.
Phillipps may have the star power game on lock but time has been her gift. Fennell has all the potential to grab audiences, kill the catwalk and talk us all into a lull with her charm and presence but needs TIME, time to give in to her ‘15 seconds’ much like Yendi did so smartly. A huge difference between Phillipps and everyone else is that she wanted it, badly, the fame I mean. Needless to say I will spare you the details but when the crowns came ‘Yendizzle’ was ready and continues to hold on to what her pageant days have fruited.

But while Kaci may not be %100 ready yet -as she admitted in an interview with Winford Williams- she still gets it right every time her beloved crown sets atop her head. All is left needed is a graceful foray into things more independent, bigger and more longstanding than a year’s reign and a crown to boot. So come hither Kaci Fennell, the big leagues are calling.
