ORCHESTRA ready!
3 REASONS TO ATTEND THE YOA EVENT
Music, changing the world. The YOA Orchestra of the Americas Caribbean tour visits Jamaica.
The rise of jamaican prodigy Jessica Yap, the classically trained violinist in circa 2009 proved Jamaica's openness to the symphony. In continuing to expose our ears to the beautiful sounds of compositions by master directors of music comes the orchestra of the Americas, Caribbean tour. Here are our go-too guide through the decision to go or to go.
ONE The upworthiness
In their flight to our island the YOA teams up with the National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica, taking the music to the streets. With this partnership, at risk youths in Kingston communities will have the opportunity to be exposed to the classic art of the orchestra in the outreach program headed by the NYOJ. “NYOJ’s aim is to create opportunities for music education to be opened for everyone, regardless of social background” said NYOG Chair; Nigel CLarke.
TWO The power of the music
If you think that a live performance at redbones is moving, wait until you're in a room with an orchestra 100 presons large. Violins, cellos, flutes, french horns, percussion and bass - only a few of what makes up the instrumentalists arsenal. We impatiently await that first grand cresendo that is promised to blow our minds.
THREE A reason to get dressed up
As is true for attending any event- one has to actually get dressed. It's the law. But we like to look at it as a wonderful time to appropriately display our finest clothes, in the finest of environments to enjoy an equally spectacular performance.
